Polymer PVT Testers for Plastic Analysis

The PVT-6000 Polymer PVT Tester has been specifically designed for users interested in analyzing the volume of plastics as a function of both temperature and pressure in molten and/or solid states. During the test, specific volume is achieved following the formation of the polymer through constant or stepwise pressure and temperature.

The data acquired during the test is then applied to the Moldex3D injection molding simulation to determine the accuracy and production stability of the analysis. Once the Moldex3D injection molding has been optimized, work efficiency and polymer production quality increases while simultaneously reducing the occurrence of product defects that occur during injection molding processes.

Some product defects that are greatly reduced and eliminated as a result of using the PVT-6000 include shrinkage, sink marks and warpage. In order to apply PVT measurements, a fixed amount of polymer is either heated or cooled under a prefixed temperature within the PVT cell. The PID analog output signal is used to control the cooling, which thereby significantly enhances the accuracy of temperature control in the process.

When the polymer is pressurized at a constant pressure by pistons, the dimensional change in the polymer’s volume as a result of thermal expansion or shrinkage is measured. Following these procedures, all collected PVT data, such as density and specific volume, are applied to the Moldex3D injection molding simulation.
